Dr. Ogechukwu Imonugo Mmagu
Dr. Mmagu is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and became a Diplomate of the ABPM in October 2021. She was named a Fellow of the same board in May 2025. She is also Board Qualified with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Mmagu is an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association (MPMA).
She earned her undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and completed her medical training at Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She then went on to complete her residency at the renowned Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, NY.
Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Mmagu moved to the United States at age 13 and now lives in Mitchellville, MD. Her decision to pursue podiatry is deeply rooted in a passion for helping patients overcome not only physical pain but also the emotional and social challenges that can accompany foot and ankle conditions.
She takes pride in delivering patient-centered care, with a special interest in wound care, lower extremity trauma, and amputation prevention.
Outside of the office, Dr. Mmagu enjoys cooking, traveling, attending concerts, and playing tennis. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. A fun fact? She speaks four languages: English, Igbo, Nigerian Pidgin, and French!
